Testing for Coronavirus (COVID-19) and Variants

Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2)

We have all been affected in some way or another by the COVID-19 pandemic. Our team at Butterfield Testing Solutions will continue to be here for you as a resource, as the situation continues to change often.

Supporting Our Community with COVID Testing

Whether you have symptoms or just need a negative COVID test to attend an event, we can help. Walk ins are welcome at our Sherwood location and onsite COVID testing is available in Utah and Oregon for individuals or on a larger scale for businesses.

We are partners with two laboratories that offer PCR COVID testing. We work with numerous congregate living communities to help them meet COVID testing requirements in Utah and Oregon for staff and residents.

Even though there has been a decrease in case numbers and deaths, it is still paramount to remember to keep doing what we need to do to be safe. Educate yourself about the effectiveness of the COVID 19 vaccine and don’t drop your guard just because you are vaccinated. You can still contract AND spread the virus.

We are living in a time of concern and uncertainty, but we are here to help. Butterfield Testing Solutions will continue serving the needs of our communities and businesses with our drug testing and COVID testing services.

Butterfield Testing Solutions will continue to keep its finger on the pulse of the pandemic to stay informed on ways to help. Presently, we follow the news on the developing COVID variants. Contact us today to learn more about our in-clinic or onsite COVID testing.

Coronavirus Temperature Checks By Butterfield Onsite Drug Testing

Temperature Checks for Covid-19

Butterfield Testing Solutions also offers temperature check services. Our technicians verify that all employees have temperature checked prior to reporting to work for the day. This simple step can help to keep others safe and keep the spread of Covid-19 down.

COVID-19 and COVID-19 Variant Information

Today, the SARS-CoV-2 virus strain has evolved beyond COVID-19, with variants such as Delta, Omicron, Omicron XE, BA.2 and others. More variants are expected, with the potential for variants to be more transmissible than earlier strains.

Although anyone can contract and spread COVID-19 and any of its variants, the research shows that getting vaccinated and boosted can reduce transmission and lessen the severity of symptoms in those who do contract the virus.

For additional information about this disease and its most recent variants, you can also visit the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) COVID-19 page.

Butterfield Testing Solutions offers a variety of testing options. We offer rapid antigen testing (COVID rapid testing), with results available in as little as ten minutes. You can also choose our lab-based Polymerase Chain Reaction, or PCR, testing, with results typically available in 24 to 36 hours.

COVID-19 and Variants Symptoms

Symptoms typically appear between two and 14 days after you have been exposed. Although symptoms of COVID-19 and its variants can range from mild to severe, these are some of the most common symptoms to be on the lookout for.

  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath
  • Chills
  • Fever
  • Sore throat
  • Fatigue
  • Headache
  • Muscle aches
  • Body aches
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Nasal congestion
  • Runny nose
  • Loss of taste
  • Loss of smell

It is important to note that this list is not all-inclusive, and new variants can present with different symptoms. Anyone can suffer symptoms that range from mild to severe; however, older adults and anyone with underlying medical conditions may be prone to more severe symptoms and potentially life-threatening complications.

Methods to Detect Covid-19

PCR Nasal Swab Test – Anterior Nares (Nasal) – We use a swab to gather a specimen from just the inside of the nostrils. This sample is then sent to the lab to detect the presence of viral RNA.

Nasopharyngeal Nasal Swab Test – A longer swab is stuck into the far back of the nasal cavity, to a part called the nasopharyngeal. The sample we obtain from this area tests for the antigens that are found in COVID 19. This test is a quick result test. (Antigen – a toxin or other foreign substance which induces an immune response in the body, especially the production of antibodies.)

Antibodies Test – Our technician obtains a small blood sample with a poke of the finger. A buffering agent is applied allowing an instant result if antibodies are present.

What Does Each COVID Testing Result Tell You?

  • PCR – The lab-based result tells you if you have an active virus present in your system.
  • Nasopharyngeal – The instant test result tells you if you currently have the COVID 19 virus.
  • Antibodies – This blood test shows if antibodies are currently present in your system.

Things to Know About COVID Testing

  • The Antibodies test, if positive, only shows if you have had the coronavirus in the past or if you are currently carrying the virus.
  • The PCR test and the nasopharyngeal test can show if the virus is active in your system.

Do Your Part To Stop Covid-19

In an effort to help stop the spread of Covid-19 for public health, the Center for Disease Control and the Department of Health suggest reducing close contact with people. If you are experiencing any symptoms of Covid-19 or if you have tested positive for Covid-19, seek out proper health care and if possible, stay home.

We don’t just provide onsite coronavirus testing. Butterfield offers do-it-yourself collection kits that you can use in the comfort and safety of your own home.

We have more onsite testing and collections services to offer.

“When the pandemic hit, our organization needed to find a partner to help us with the required COVID testing for 175 staff. Since June 2020, we have worked with Butterfield Testing Solutions to meet these regulatory requirements including testing staff up to two times a week. The Butterfield team has been amazing to work with!

From their friendly staff who conduct our testing clinics to their owner, the Butterfield team has provided excellent customer service every step of the way. They are flexible, reliable and have become a trusted partner for our organization. Whether it’s doing the regular weekly clinics or pulling together an emergency clinic with short notice, the Butterfield team made testing look easy and well fun as much as shoving a Q tip up your nose can be!

Without the support of the Butterfield team, I’m not sure how our organization would have navigated the pandemic and the testing requirements. We are so grateful to them for their partnership.”
